Activities in Rwanda and Uganda are part of our five-day tour itinerary. Gorilla trekking and a city tour of Kigali in Rwanda, chimpanzee tracking, and wildlife in Uganda, are all included.
5 days Uganda Rwanda tour package is designed for visitors interested in gorilla trekking in Rwanda, chimpanzee trekking in Uganda, and game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Volcanoes national park in Rwanda and Bwindi impenetrable forest in Uganda are popular for mountain gorilla trekking unlike Nyungwe forest in Rwanda is not very dependable for chimpanzee tracking compared to Kibale national park in Uganda because they are few in numbers and are likely to go deep into the forest during certain months. Tracking them is challenging, trackers sometimes have to spend many hours looking for the chimpanzee and they may happen to track nothing at all.
The 5 days safari package will start with a tour of Kigali city where you will see various interesting memories and attractions of Kigali’s most visited places such as the Kigali arena, Kigali genocide memorial site former presidential palace known as a museum. After the city tour, the first stop will be in Kibale National Park in Uganda popularly known as the primate’s capital of the world. It has 13 species of primates and over 1500 chimpanzees. Kibale forest national park is the best place for chimpanzee tracking and the chance of seeing them is guaranteed simply because they do not roam far away from their feeding zones. Kibale national park contains 4 chimpanzee habituation groups that are open to tourism, this grants a special opportunity for visitors to take part in the chimpanzee habituation experience though it’s quite expensive it’s worth the money.
From Kibale national park, the next stop will be Queen Elizabeth national park. this park provides the best game drives in Uganda and boat cruise experience to visitors all year round that offers beautiful landscape sceneries to enjoy. It is the only park with rare tree-climbing lions that can be found in the ishasha sector. The park is evergreen due to adequate rain received annually that supports the development of green vegetation. Queen Elizabeth national park is the most visited park for its diversity ranging from wildlife and plantlife and thrilling activities such as boat cruises, game drives chimpanzee tracking in the kyambura gorge.
Volcanoes national park is also included in the 5 days Uganda Rwanda safari package for gorilla trekking. The park is situated at a high altitude portraying the beautiful volcanic mountains that can be seen in the park. As mentioned above, it’s the park with the highest number of mountain gorillas and Bwindi national park in Uganda. The main activities are gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking, and mountain hiking in one of the major volcanoes found in the park.
Note: Gorilla trekking permits in Rwanda cost 1500$ while in Uganda it costs 700$, therefore you can decide to do gorilla trekking in Uganda to cut the costs while enjoying a variety of wildlife experiences
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Kibale national park
Our driver will pick you up very early from your lodge and start your city tour in Kigali. You will be able to see Rwanda’s memorable places built within the city and these include the main market, Kigali genocide memorial center, iby’iwacu cultural village, former presidential palace, and artisan shop gallery for memorials. After the city tour, you will embark on 6 hours journey to Kibale national park in Uganda. It’s a long journey but interesting with beautiful sceneries on the boundaries ranging from the hills of volcanoes national park in Rwanda to the dense rainforests of Uganda. Lunch will be packed to enable you to reach in time in the evening to check in your booked hotel/lodge for a shower and relax while preparing for the best chimpanzee tracking the following day.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake up for early breakfast and head to the park head office at Kanyanchu for a briefing about chimpanzee behaviors, do’s, and don’ts in the park such that when you encounter them you don’t fear them. The activity takes about 2-5 hours since they are easy to find. Chimpanzee groups are interesting and funny other than gorillas, when you come face to face with them you are allowed to spend one-hour having fun learning their clans and taking pictures and videos for memory keeping.
After you return to the lodge for lunch and chill a moment, later evening your driver will embark on a 2-hour journey and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise activities at Kazinga channel
Catch the early morning breakfast and start your game drive in the morning to be able to find the nocturnal animals like leopards going back to rest after hunting and early risers before they disappear for food hunting. The morning game drives are best to see bird species and a number of animals since they will be out to graze such animals include; hartebeest, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, and many others. After returning to the lodge for lunch and preparing for a boat cruise in the afternoon.
A boat cruise on the Kazinga channel is the best experience. It is the best place to spot a number of wildlife both animals and bird species, such as hippos, crocodiles buffaloes, and other animals that come to drink on the lake. This takes about 2 hours to experience a variety of wildlife after you will be taken back to the lodge for refreshment.

Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda
Wake up early in the morning for coffee sign out at the lodge and prepare for the journey to volcanoes national park, but before you have to experience another game drive on top of the activities done the previous day, this time you will drive towards the Ishasha sector for memorable tree-climbing lions that are found in only queen Elizabeth national park in the whole Uganda. Other countries for tree-climbing lions are Tanzania and South Africa in Kruger national park, after you will embark on your journey to the volcanoes national park lunch will be taken on the way, once you reach Rwanda check in at your lodge refresh and relax and prepare for the hectic gorilla trekking the following day.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda and end the tour
You will wake up early in the morning, have breakfast, and head to the park head office for gorilla trekking offices. This takes about 30-45 minutes to discuss different rules and regulations that govern gorilla trekking activity, and mention various gorilla families. After the briefing, you will be allocated to different groups of about 2 or 3 according to the number of people and each group contains 8 members.
Each group member will be assigned to one gorilla family, these sometimes tend to move deep in the forest looking for food and where to put their nests which will involve more hours of trekking to find them, here a porter can help you lift some items that may seem too heavy for you to manage the trek, unfortunately, you spend one hour when you encounter them but it’s worth the journey. Remember to observe the guidelines set in order to enjoy them after you set back to the head office to meet your driver to transfer you back to the lodge for lunch and prepare to set back to the airport or Kigali city and end the tour.
