The 4 days tour package is meant for visitors interested in both gorilla trekking and hiking the active Nyiragongo volcano located in the democratic republic of Congo.

The tour will start and end in Kigali city, starting with a city tour and then transfer to Virungas national park for gorilla trekking and then hiking the Nyiragongo volcano Both activities require physical fitness in order to enjoy and finish your activities.

To hike Nyiragongo volcano up to the summit needs 2 days to ascend and to descend, these will give you the best hiking memorable experience you ever wanted and on top of that, it offers an opportunity to see the active boiling magma in the crater and other beautiful attractions such as the Rwenzori mountains located in Uganda, lakes, rivers and wide Virungas national park. Nyiragongo volcano is the most popular attraction in Congo including mountain gorillas and lowland gorillas. Still, you can decide to do gorilla trekking in Rwanda and then go to Nyiragongo volcano in Congo for an amazing experience.

Virungas national park is the oldest national park in Africa established in 1925 as a tourist destination and conservation area for wildlife species. It was nominated as a world heritage site in 1979 as a result of increased biodiversity significance, settlements, and refugees from neighboring countries within the park though it has been threatened by quite a number of civil wars that occurred within the country.

 Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Virungas national park

You will be picked from the airport or hotel by our driver pick, greet and brief you about the day’s activities, later you will start your journey to Virungas national park but first, you will be taken to visit Kigali city, it looks small but very neat and clean with various attraction. You will visit the Gisozi genocide memorial site, the Kigali museum, and artisan shops for souvenirs on the tour. After you will have lunch and then continue driving to D. R. .Day 2: Gorilla trekking

Wake up early for breakfast, and drive to the Park Headquarters in Bukima for briefing before heading into the forest to start your gorilla trek. You will be assigned to the gorilla family and start your trek, this may take about 2-6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once you encounter the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them observing their behavior, taking many photos and videos. This is an incredible and memorable experience to see the giant apes in the dense, after one hour with the gorillas, you return to the Park Headquarters for your certificates and head to the lodge. Day 3: Hiking Nyiragongo Volcano

Have breakfast in the morning and after transfer to Nyiragongo volcano starting point of Kibatsi station for briefing. You will be guided by park rangers and guides while ascending to the top of the mountain, this will take about 4-6 hours to reach the active summit. This is an amazing adventure that will grant you the opportunity to view some animals mostly common like the rare Okapi and sight some birds along with the trail to the top. Reaching the Nyiragongo summit, your eyes will focus mainly on the active boiling magma and other vegetation features like forests, view the volcanoes mountain and Mgahinga Mountain. Rest at the summit for dinner and overnight at the mountain camp tent on the boundary of a crater.

Day 4: Descent and transfer to Kigali for departure

On the last day of your 4 days tour, you will be descending from the Nyiragongo summit back to the starting point at Kibatsi station, head back to the lodge for lunch, and rest, later transfer back to Kigali to catch your flight or drop you at the lodge.
