VOLCANO SAFARIS PLANS THE 5TH LODGE IN KIBALE PARK IN 2023.

As 2023 seems to be knocking on the door, pioneers of gorilla and chimpanzee eco-tourism Volcano Safaris in Uganda and Rwanda that have existed since 1997 prioritize planetary wellbeing, authenticity and transparency. To mark the 25th-anniversary Volcanoes Safaris is looking forward to starting building a new, fifth lodge at a site near Kibale National Park in Uganda. Kibale national park is the best destination for chimpanzees tracking which are about 1,500 chimpanzees.

Volcano safaris are looking ahead to 2023 to launch the 5th lodge in Kibale park putting guests in the country’s most beloved parks for great ape trekking and wildlife tourism thus a seamless safari across Rwanda and Uganda.

Kibale national park is a home for both chimpanzee trekking and chimpanzee habituation where chimp permits cost $200 per person and $250 per person respectively. Although chimpanzee trekking is the best activity, there are other activities like nature walks and birding,

Nature walks.

While in kibale national park, visitors are charged less for nature walk which involves walking on foot to visit bigodi wetland sanctuary which is led by local community guides. You will spot various bird species like long-horned billed birds, kingfishers, owls, egrets, grey crowned cranes, turacos, butterflies, spurful, and many others, different fauna and flora, visiting rest in bananas where visitors will enjoy juice made in bananas, visiting traditional doctors and local markets.

During the nature walks, visitors will be lucky enough to spot 8 primates and these include Black and white colobus monkeys, Grey cheeked mangabeys, olive baboons, Red colobus monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys and vervet monkeys among others

Birding.

Birding is the best destination in Kibale national park for bird lovers where some birds are endemic birds, forest birds and migratory birds.  The park is home to 375 bird species whereas Bigodi wetland sanctuary has 138 bird species and many of these can be seen during the guided walks in the wetlands around. Birding is usually done very early in the morning and evening hours when birds like sunbird, yellow-billed barbet, great blue turaco, black-capped Apalis, African pied wagtail, blue-breasted kingfisher, crowned eagle, and breasted pitta are spotted.
