Member states in EAC urge to join forces in promoting Tourism.

Late Saturday, Prosper Bazombanza Burundian Vice-President stated coming upon the member states of East African Countries to join forces in the promotion of tourism in the region.

“If they are to realize the full potential of the sector in the region, the member states would work together in standardization of tourism services and management of tourism resources,” Bazombanza stated in Arusha which is a Tanzanian northern city.

During the official opening of the 2nd EAC Tourism Expo, Bazombanza made the appeal representing Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye in the capital Bujumbura.

What are the EAC states benefits from Tourism?

  • Tourism has resulted in the gross domestic product where people surrounding the touristic attractions have been employed as game rangers and porters which has improved their standards of living.
  • Foreign exchange earnings are where visitors come to explore the attractions in east Africa as they are charged for each activity.
  • Creation of jobs for the local people who are willing to work as game rangers, guides, and posters in the touring places.

He said that the application of common standards in the region will enable us to enhance our competitiveness as a single tourism destination.

The tourism expo in Arusha is expecting over 250 exhibitors from over 10 countries, 120 international and regional travel agents and buyers as well as 2,500 trade visitors.

Promoting EAC as a single tourism destination is the main objective of this Tourism Expo.

“Rethinking Tourism for Social Economic Development in the East African Community.” is the theme of the 2022 Tourism Expo.
