Chahafi Safari Resort is located on the shore of the pretty lake Chahafi near Kisoro town. Chahafi Resort offers nine ensuite stand-alone tented cabins and Nine Deluxe mountain-view cottages. Five are Tented double cabins with a king-size bed and an extra single bed, Two tented twin cabins, and one triple cabin. Our Tented Cabins are ecologically built and named after the birds commonly sighted around the lake. These nine cabins are: Pelican; Jacana; Crane; Kingfisher; Cisticola; Heron; moorhen Hammerkop and Warbler. The Cabins have an outdoor verandah with two chairs and a power charging point. We are a family-friendly facility. While at the resort, visitors are facilitated with delicious meals in their amazing restaurant, which has a well-stocked bar with soft and hard drinks, free Wi-Fi, free parking, laundry, a camping fire, and many more.

Things to do while at the resort.

Hiking mountains

Even though the resort is located near Muhavura, it is a fantastic experience to hike the mountain. While at the resort, visitors will have the best view of the mountain as they prepare to hike. It is advised that visitors should pack comfortable hiking boots, water & snacks, raincoat, cameras, long trousers, long t-shirts, jackets, long stockings, binoculars, and many more. Along the way, local communities with their gardens will spotted.

Gorilla tracking

Since the resort is located at the edge of Mgahinga National Park, it makes Chahafi Resort the best destination for gorilla trekking. Visitors are advised to include gorilla trekking during the Uganda safari on their bucket list. Visitors are given a one-hour visit to be with the gorilla; it is a great undescribed experience but needs one to be part of it. Mgahinga National Park is the home to one gorilla family, Nyakagezi, which is led by a silverback.

Golden monkey tracking

Visitors at Chahafi Safari Resort can also see golden monkeys in Mgahinga National Park, even though Mgahinga is highly visited for gorilla and golden monkey tracking. The activity can be done in the early morning hours, and visitors participating in it will also enjoy various bird species as they search for golden monkeys.

Nature walks.

Nature walk at Chahafi Safari Resort is the best because the resort is located in local communities in the Kisoro district. Nature walks involve footing with a guide to direct visitors to what is best for them, and as an activity, it takes about 2-3 hours. During the activity, visitors will interact with the locals who will entertain them in traditional dances, visit local doctors who use herbs for medicine, visit local markets in Kisoro, taste local foods, and many more.

Canoeing.

Chahafi Safari Resort derives its name from Lake Chahafi, which makes the resort the best destination for canoeing. Visitors may spice the moment with sports fishing during canoeing, which offers the best experience.  Canoeing takes about 2-3 hours, and during sailing, visitors will spot various bird species like the lesser Jacana, the African Jacana, the Black Crake, the Blue-headed Coucal, and many more.

What is the best time to visit the resort?

Although the resort can be visited annually, there is always the best time. There is a dry and wet season; however, most visitors visit the resort during the dry season, which is described as the best season and high season in the tourism industry. During the dry season, Lake Chahafi Safari Resort is always booked, so visitors are advised to book on time to avoid inconveniences. However, the resort is also open for visitors in the wet season.

How to get there at Chahafi safari resort?

Chahafi Safari Resort can be accessed from the Kampala -Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale route, which takes about 9 hours to reach. Although it looks like a long journey, it is worth it due to the beautiful scenery, such as the Equator, Mount Muhavura, Lake Mburo National Park, Lake Bunyonyi, beautiful terraces in Kabale, and many more.

However, visitors may fly from Kajjassi or Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro airstrip, where they will be picked up and driven to the resort for about 30 minutes to Chahafi resort.
