Jinja, which is 3,750 feet above sea level, is situated in the northernmost point of Victoria in southeast Uganda, just north of the equator. It has a fairly comfortable climate with 63 to 82-degree temperature ranges (F)
Jinja is dispersed outside of the city core, with a few elevated structures. While it is currently undergoing significant upgrades, such as the building of new tourist hotels and the discovery of more new tourist adventure sports and activities, it still has a much more relaxed vibe than the nearby Ugandan capital city of Kampala.
The district’s most notable geographic features are immediately apparent as you travel into Jinja from Kampala: Jinja city is located on the east bank of the Nile, where the world’s longest river, the Nile, begins its 6670-kilometer trek from Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean Sea. The drive to Jinja takes place through diverse regions of Uganda, including tiny townships, farmland, the Mabira forest, and sugar and tea plantations, on a day off from the traffic and congestion of Kampala.
