Kibale national park is the best destination for 13 primate’s species like chimpanzees, baboons, galagos, Olive baboons, Black-and-White Colobus Monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys, Blue Monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, Vervet Monkeys, Red Colobus Monkey and many more. The park inhabits a big population for chimpanzees over 5000 individuals and it is recorded that these chimps are 98 % humans due to their characters.

The park is a tropical forest located in western part of Uganda along mupende-fort portal route. Besides tracking chimpanzees, visitors may do bird watching, nature walk and cultural encounters.

The park can be accessed by road transport talking about 5 hours using private or public vehicles. the journey is worthy it as visitors enjoy beautiful sceneries spotted along the way like tea plantation, communities, mountain Rwenzori and many more.

Murchison falls national park.

Murchison falls national park is the largest park in Uganda covering area of 3893sqkm above the sea level. The park is famously known as a home for big five mammals like elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos and rhinos although other mammal species are spotted like kobs, water bucks, warthogs, and many more. Murchison falls national park is bisected by the Victoria Nile from east to west for a distance of about 115 km (71 mi). The park is also known for most powerful falls in the whole world which attracts various bird species either endemic or migrates.

 

 

Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Bwindi impenetrable national park is a home for endangered mountain gorillas and is highly visited. The park is a UNESCO heritage site that is led by Uganda Wildlife Authority. The park is a home of 24 gorilla families living in four sectors including Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga adding to population census of 459 individuals. It has been recorded by researchers that these gorillas are 98% DNA humans. Gorilla families are led by silverback, then mother gorilla and infants. The park is a tropical forest thus making it the best destination for bird watching and culture for batwa people.

 Mgahinga national park.

Mgahinga national park is located in south western part of Uganda bordering Rwanda and Congo. The park is in Kisoro district and commonly known for mountain gorillas and golden monkeys living in tropical forest of the park. The park is also a birding paradise for bird lovers. Mgahinga national park lies in conservation area with Virunga and volcano national park.

The park can be accessed by either road or air transport from Uganda or Rwanda. By road transport, visitors will use private o public vehicles which takes about 9-10 hours’ drive from Kampala whereas about 5 hours from Rwanda. While by air, visitors may fly from Entebbe International airport to Kisoro airstrip taking about an hour then few drives to the park.

Kidepo valley national park.

Kidepo valley national park is in Karamoja region in northeast Uganda covering an area of 1,442 square kilometres (557 sq mi). The park is a unique best wilderness area harboring 75 mammal species like Big cats: Lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas, Antelope: Jackson’s hartebeest, oribi, eland, Uganda kob, and klipspringer, Other mammals: Elephants, Rothschild’s giraffe, Burshell’s Zebra, Bohor Reedbuck, Hartebeest, and Kudu, and 470 bird species like ostriches, kori bustards, secretary birds, and bee-eaters. The park is best for culture encounters for karamonjo who are cattle pastoralists.

 

 

 

Mt Rwenzori national park.

Mt Rwenzori national park is often called the “Mountains of the Moon,” rise majestically in western Uganda along the Uganda-DR Congo border. The park is the highest peak of the Ruwenzori reaches 5,109 metres, and the range’s upper regions are permanently snow-capped and glaciated. The park is harbors at least 18 mammal species like elephant, buffalo, giant forest hog, bushbuck, chimpanzee and leopard and a home of 200 bird species like Rwenzori Turaco, Bamboo Warbler, Golden-winged Sunbird, Handsome Francolin, and many more.

Semuliki national park.

Semuliki national park is an oldest park in Uganda located in western bordering democratic republic of Congo in Bundibugyo District. The park is covering an area of 220sqkm at an altitude. 670-760m above sea level. The park is the best destination for birding, mammals and nature walks. The park is a home of male and female hot spring which have an amazing historical story that every visitor wishes to hear.

Queen Elizabeth national park.

Queen Elizabeth national park is a second largest park in Uganda from Murchison falls national park. The park lies in western part of Uganda covering an area 1978sqkm above the sea level. The park harbors mammal species like buffalos, lions, hippos & leopards, bird species like handsome franklin, long horned billed bird, shoebill & blue turaco, chimpanzees at kalinzu forest and kyambura gorge. The park can be accessed either by road and air transport.

Lake mburo national park is located in western part of Uganda in Nyabushozi County, Kiruhura District. The park inhabits 38 mammal species like zebra, hippopotamus, impala, warthog, common eland, African buffalo, leopard, hyenas, genets, African civet, jackals and serval however the park harbors over 357 bird species including rare shoebill stork, paprus yellow warbler, African finfoot, saddle billed stork and many more.

The park can be accessed by either road or air transport. By road transport, visitors will use private or public vehicles from Kampala taking about 4-5 hours to reach the park using Masaka -Mbarara route. While as by air transport, visitors may fly from kajjassi or Entebbe International airport to Kisoro airstrip.

Mt Elgon national park.

Mt Elgon national park lies in northeastern part of Uganda roughly 140 kilometers from Lake Victoria bordering Kenya. The park covers an area of 1,279 km² above the sea level and best destination for hiking mt Elgon which is Africa’s highest mountain, far exceeding Kilimanjaro currently at 4,321m and 5,895m respectively. The park is also best for culture encounters, birding, nature walks and rock climbing.
