IS UGANDA WORTHY VISITING?

Yes, indeed Uganda is worthy visiting unlike other countries due to various beautiful amazing attractions. While on exploring Uganda the pearl of Africa, visitors are always highlighting Bwindi impenetrable national park, mgahinga national park, kibale national park, Murchison falls national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, kidepo valley national park and Mt Rwenzori national park and many more.

Although Uganda is blessed with 10 national parks, there is always the top  national parks that many visitors can’t miss out on their bucket list while on Uganda safari.

Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Bwindi impenetrable national park is located in south western part of Uganda neighboring Rwanda and Congo. The park is a home for endangered mountain Gorillas which are located in four sectors that is Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors. Gorillas are highly visited and the park populates about 408 individuals with 24 gorilla families.

Despite the fact that the park is a tropical forest, it makes the park the best destination for bird watching.

The park can be accessed either by road or air transport. By road transport, visitors may use public and private vehicles taking masaka- mbarara route which takes about 8-9 hours to reach the park. However, by air transport, visitors may fly from Entebbe International airport or kajjassi to Kisoro airstrip for about 1 hour.

Mgahinga national park.

Mgahinga national park lies in Virunga conservation area in south western part of Uganda bordering volcano national park in Rwanda and Virunga national park in Congo. The park is a home for endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkey which have attracted many visitors.  Mgahinga NP hosts only one gorilla family called Nyakagezi thus making 25 gorilla families in Uganda.

The park lies in Kisoro district and can be accessed by either road and air transport. By road transport visitors may use private or public vehicles taking about 9-10 hours. By air transport, visitors will fly from kajjassi or Entebbe International airport to Kisoro airstrip for about an hour.

Although the park is visited annually throughout the year, dry season is always highly visited and described as high season in months of June to August and December to February.

Queen Elizabeth national park

Queen Elizabeth national park is the second largest park in Uganda from Murchison falls national park covering an area of 1978sqkm and 3893sqkm respectively. The park is both savannah and primates thus making it highly visited as a home of 95 mammals, 600 bird species, chimpanzees, and tree climbing lions. Chimps are spotted in kalinzu and kyambura gorge, some of the mammals spotted include elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, mongoose, kobs, water bucks, and various bird species include long hornbilled bird, kingfishers, grey crowned crane, blue turacos and many more.

The park can be accessed either by road or air transport. By road transport, visitors may use private or public vehicles using mupende-fort portal route which takes about 8 hours to reach the park. However, the park can also be accessed via masaka- Mbarara route which takes about 9 hours to reach the park.

Murchison falls national park

Murchison falls

Murchison falls national park is the largest park in Uganda covering an area of 3893sqkm above the sea level. The park is located in western part of Uganda and is the only park that inhabits the bug five mammals like Rhinos, elephants, lions, leopards and buffalos. The park is worldly known for most powerful falls and the park hosts chimpanzees in budongo falls thus making the best destination to visit.

Visitors can either access the park by road transport and air transport. By road transports, visitors use private or public vehicles using Masindi or via Lira- Gulu route which will take time but worthy the journey due to beautiful sceneries spotted along the way.

The park is best for boat cruise on lake albert which takes about 2-3 hours sailing to the bottom side of Murchison falls. While cruising, visitors will spot mammals along the lake side like forest elephants, buffalos, crocodiles, hippopotamus, water bucks, kobs, monkeys, and various bird species.

Kibale national park

Kibale national park is located in western part of Uganda along mupende -fort portal route. The park is a tropical forest which is known for hosting a big number of chimpanzees over 5000 individuals in the world. The park is also known for inhabiting beautiful colored butterflies, various bird species and some wildlife species like forest elephants, warthogs and many more. The park covers an area of 766sqkm above the sea level.

While in the park, visitors may do nature walks around bigodi wetland sanctuary, visit local communities like rest in bananas where ripped bananas ae squeezed and turns into sweet juice and many more activities.

However, the park can also be accessed via masaka-mabara- kasese -fort port route which a longer route but worth it due to beautiful sceneries spotted along the way like lake mburo national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, mt Rwenzori national park.

Kidepo valley national park.

Kidepo valley national park is Uganda’s most remote and least explored national park, yet it is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most breathtaking wilderness areas. The park is located in the semi-arid valleys of Karamoja, the park borders South Sudan to the northwest and Kenya just 5km to the east, sitting approximately 700km from Kampala.

Kidepo valley national park is a true safari gem, boasting an incredible variety of big game, unique landscapes, and rich birdlife. It is home to over 77 mammal species and an impressive 476 bird species, making it a prime destination for wildlife lovers and adventure seekers.

The park can be accessed either by road transport and air transport. By road, taking a 4WD vehicle through various routes from Kampala, or by air with a chartered flight landing at the Lomej airstrip near the park headquarters; the most direct road route is through Gulu to the Lokumoit Gate, which takes around 10 hours by car, while flying is considered the best option for quicker access
