IN GOVERNMENT SERVICE, UTB AWARDED EXCELLENCE ASSESSMENTS
During the financial Year 2020/21 by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), UTB has emerged 3rd in the central government service excellence assessment.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja who represented the President announces the awards to the excelling institutions during National Budget Conference for the Financial Year 2023/24 budget strategy at the Kololo ceremonial grounds at a function.
In accordance with the program-based approach to planning and budgeting, the awards mainly focus on results that deliver change in the well-being of citizens. During the voting category in central government, UTB ranked 3rd with Uganda Prisons and Public Service commission coming first and second respectively following Masaka Referral hospital in 4th position while Equal opportunities commission was ranked 5th position.
On behalf of UTB, Lilly Ajarova UTB CEO was delighted to receive the award and congratulated staff upon that recognition.
She noted that this is evidence that their efforts to be an efficient, resulted-oriented institution are starting to bear fruit as they deliver on their mandate.
Since the launch of the country’s newly refreshed brand identity Explore Uganda, The Pearl of Africa, boom after 8 months comes this award. In January this year, President Yoweri Museveni launched the brand seeking to align Uganda as a gifted number one tourist destination.
What is the overall objective of the Financial Year 2023/24 budget strategy?
- To restore the economy back to the medium-term growth path of 6-7% percent per annum.
- Improve the competitiveness of the economy.
- Sustain Uganda’s socio-economic transformation agenda.
Daudi Migereko the UTB Chairman Board of Directors applauded the government for recognizing Uganda Tourism Board as one of the top performing government institutions in Uganda and pledged to continue prioritizing value for money in all planning aspects of the institution.
