NYEGE NYEGE FESTIVAL HAPPENING NOW IN UGANDA.
Nyege Nyege festival is the biggest festival in Uganda that invites visitors from all over the world to attend and have fun. The festival involves live bands, singers, instrumentalists, cultural acts, dance acts and DJ’s. Ugandan dance hall star Maro, Apio Moro, Byg Ben Sukuya, Jackie Akello, Kongoloko, Aka Dope band are the major acts however is an explosion of culture, fashion, music and art from various places across the globe.
Nyege Nyege festival started in 2015 in Uganda with an aim of creating a platform for underground artists to show their best talent which excites the music industry. It has been taking place in jinja and as of now, it is at Itanda falls in jinja where Jinja comes alive with music enthusiasts from all over Africa flocking the town to attend the festival.
The festival is no ordinary one for music lovers as thousands of partygoers from all over the world flock to the source of the Nile in Jinja for the international music festival. Tickets for the four-day festival have sold out on its website, which brought more than 150 artists from across Africa and Europe playing across its four stages.
AFP reports up to 12,000 people have attended, including 5,000 foreign tourists.
Prime Minister said that Nyege Nyege festival will go ahead.
Robinah Nabbanja the prime Minister has overruled the parliament by rejecting the cancellation of Nyege Nyege festival which some members of Parliament mistakenly to be promoting sexual immorality. She assured the organizers of Nyege Nyege festival a green light that they will continue with the festival from September 15th to 18th 2022.
Nabbanja told a stakeholders meeting that they had tasked the Ministry of Ethics and Integrity, as well as the Ministry of ICT and the organizers, to develop guidelines that will be followed during the event.
“The stakeholders meeting chaired by the Prime Minister that over 4,000 people are directly and indirectly employed during Nyege Nyege Festival, and it is a good foreign exchange earner. The Prime Minister agreed, saying the economy is in a state that requires such a boost.” Aly Alibhai CEO Talent Africa.
“The three-day international festival should not go ahead “because it promotes immorality” Among and parliament said. Because of this statement, some say the threat boosted ticket sales to the electronic music festival however it ensures there were no sex orgies, nudity, vulgar language, songs, expressions, or gestures. Under-18s were not allowed.
However, not all of Uganda’s politicians were opposed to the festival – Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga was filmed dancing there.
Engineer David Kempson, aged 31 said that the festival is his first time in Africa. I didn’t expect this much, the huge fan presence, the greenery, the waterfalls and the hospitality.

Is Nyege Nyege festival safe?
Yes, the festival is safe because the organizers in charge have requested the government to provide police all over the Itanda falls where the festival is taking place. The tent side is protected with their belongings so worry about not attending because of the theft. The police are everywhere to keep the peace in case of anything.
How to access the festival?
The itanda falls are access is on jinja which takes about 4-5 hours by road. Jinja town is known for tourist attractions which include Itanda falls on the source of the Nile. While at the festival, the visitors would enjoy the breath of white waters of the Nile at the falls however some visitors are involved in exploring river tubing, water Rafting, Bungee jumping, Quad Biking and boat cruise.
For those who prefer flights from kajjassi or international Airport Entebbe, it takes about 30 minutes to fly to jinja .while on the way, various attractions are spotted like sugarcane plantations, sources of the Nile and many more.
